Deck Your Halls Holiday Blitz

December 9, 10am – 1pm

Visit all four museums to participate in holiday activities like making a sparkling poinsettia or learning about the holiday customs of Mexico! Each family will be given a holiday blitz badge; get your badge stamped by all four museums and receive some unique Las Cruces Museums swag!

Animal Encounters

Saturdays at 10:30 am

Come meet the animals of the Chihuahuan Desert and gain an close up perspective into the lives of Chihuahuan Desert animals as the Museum Naturalist guides the discussion into these elusive creatures. When feasible, there will be a hands-on segment of the class. Call 575-532-3371 for more information. Free.

Night Creatures

First Fridays from 4:30pm to 7:00pm

During the monthly First Friday Ramble and by appointment, the Museum Naturalist provides free tours behind the wall housing the living collection. If you would like to see how the museum cares for the animals, or if you have questions about how to keep an amphibian, reptile or fish of your own. Pre-registration is required.     Today in Space

    There is some amazing science happening in the solar system. Join us at the museum as Bert Ransom, space enthusiast, highlights some of the dramatic discoveries and incredible advances that are happening now in astronomy and space exploration.     Science Café

    Last Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm

    Do you have a question about science? Do you want to network with scientists in a variety of disciplines? Then Sigma Xi is the organization for you! The NMSU chapter of Sigma Xi: International Scientific Research Society are our partners in presenting monthly science round table discussions. Please use Water Street entrance after 5:00 pm. Free.     Teen Science Cafe

    3rd Thursday of each month, 5:30pm-7pm

    Hosted by the Museum of Nature and Science, Teen Science Café is a program for teens to learn about science in a social atmosphere. Meet with a local scientist each month and learn about their research while enjoying refreshments provided by the museum. Call the museum for specific topics.

    Scout Merit Badge Program

    By request

    The museum offers several courses to scouts for merit badge credit on an on-demand basis. There is a $10 fee per participant and pre-registration with at least 1 week notice is required. Courses run for approximately 4 hours. Call 575-522-3120 for details.
