Museum of Nature and Science to feature discoveries of Gregor Mendel 2018
The history of scientific discovery will be on display, through the STEAMpunk program, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science, 411 N. Main St.
During the one-hour program, participants will travel in time to see the 19th Century discoveries of scientist Gregor Mendel. An Austrian monk, Mendel discovered the foundation of modern genetics through observing and describing hereditary traits in pea plants. Participants will learn about these observable traits, called phenotypes, through a hands-on activity.
Admission is free to the Museum of Nature and Science. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday. For general information about the Museum of Nature and Science, call 575/522-3120, or visit: http://las-cruces.org/museums.
